Russia plans to increase energy technology exports to BRICS countries
Russia views the BRICS Energy Platform as a priority area for developing cooperation. Russia intends to provide the BRICS countries with its own technologies and new production solutions. This was stated by Sergey Tsivilev, Russian Minister of Energy.
According to him, the development of the domestic fuel and energy sector is part of the Energy Strategy to 2050, which will expand both energy supplies and the export of Russian technologies. Russia supports the study on hydrogen value chains initiated by India. Tsivilev emphasized India's crucial role in creating Digital Centre of Excellence for Smart Grids & Energy Storage under ERCP (Energy Research Cooperation Platform) Smart Grids Work stream. In the face of geopolitical crises, resource accumulation and open access for all BRICS members to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy sources are essential, the Minister of Energy stressed.
The Minister of Energy also shared statistics on the use of artificial intelligence in the Russian fuel and energy sector. 58% of companies already use AI technologies. It is two times more than five years ago. The share of low- and zero-carbon generation in Russia reaches 37%, and including gas, it's approximately 85%.
