Rosatom and Egypt to open nuclear medicine center
Rosatom plans to collaborate with Egypt on the construction of a nuclear medicine center in the country. This was reported by the corporation's press service.
According to Rosatom, on June 17, agreements were signed between Rosatom Construction Technologies LLC and the Egyptian Health Authority. The signed cooperation agreement declares the intention to jointly build a nuclear medicine center.
The modern nuclear medicine center will be equipped with a radiopharmaceutical production facility with its own cyclotron complex, a molecular imaging department with positron emission tomography and single-photon emission computed tomography scanners capable of performing up to 30,000 examinations per year, and a radionuclide therapy department capable of treating up to 400 patients per year. The construction of such a facility will make high-tech care more accessible and attract medical tourists to Egypt.
