Japan-Russia trade increased by 15% in first half of 2026
Japan and Russia increased their turnover by 15% in the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. It reached 670 billion yen (approximately $4.1 billion). These figures were reported by TASS based on statistics published by the Japanese Ministry of Finance.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports from Russia increased by 0.3% compared to the first half of 2025. Russian coal supplies rose by 15.8%. Russian energy products account for approximately 60% of Russia's total exports to Japan.
Japan increased its purchases of Russian iron and steel products by 57.9%. Furthermore, Russian medical supplies to Japan grew by 100%.
